1 This standard contains provisions specific to earthquake-resistant design of buildings. Unless stated otherwise, the provisions in this part of IS 1893 shall be read necessarily in conjunction with the general provisions as laid down in IS1893 (Part 1).
2 In this seventh revision of the standard, additional criteria for earthquake resistant design of buildings made up of different materials is included as part of different sections. In this version, additional provisions had been added in Section 1 (for all buildings), Section 2 (for Masonry buildings), Section 3 (Concrete buildings) and Section 4 (Steel buildings).
