Pressed Ceramic Tiles as per IS 15622: 2017 are manufactured by using double charged technology. Various type of clay and minerals such as Feldspar, China Clay, Zirconium Silicate and quartz etc are charged into a ball mill. The ground material in slurry form is transferred to storage tank after sieving. The material is then fed into hoppers for hydaulic Press where powder is pressed into a die to take shape of tile of specific size as per cavity of the die. The tiles thereafter are fed into a roller dryer to a specified temperature to remove moisture. The tile is thereafter fed into the fast single layer roller kiln in which the tiles are fired. The kiln has different temperature ranging from 500 deg Centigrade to 1400 Deg Centigrade in different zones and this is where vitrification takes place. the baked tiles are then subjected to polishing by using different grit size polisher on polishing line.
