MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS CERTIFICATION

Bureau of Indian Standards initiated Management Systems Certification in the year 1991 with Quality Management System Certification (IS/ISO 9001). Over the years it has gradually expanded its activities to various other Management Systems Certification schemes.
BIS has a diverse range of certification schemes catering to different sectors of the industry. The certification schemes on Quality Management Systems (IS/ISO 9001), Environmental Management Systems (IS/ISO 14001), Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (IS/ISO 45001), Energy management systems (IS/ISO 50001) and Anti-Bribery Management Systems (IS/ ISO 37001) are examples of universally applicable schemes that may be adopted in any government or private sector business.
Apart from these, BIS also offers certification schemes such as the Service Quality Management Systems (IS 15700), Information Security Management Systems (IS/ISO 27001) Food Safety Management Systems (IS/ISO 22000) and Piped Drinking Water Supply Management Systems (IS 17482), etc. for the specific industry sectors.
The licence (certification) is normally granted for three years. The audit programme for the initial certification shall include a two-stage initial audit, surveillance audits in the first and second years following the certification decision, and a recertification audit in the third year prior to expiration of certification. The first three-year certification cycle begins with the certification decision. Subsequent cycles begin with the recertification decision.
The management systems certification services are available to organizations throughout the country. The certification services are provided through five Regional Offices located in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Chennai. Furthermore, one is always welcome to contact any of the Bureau’s 38 branch offices in the country for further information

Obtaining MS certification from BIS has several benefits. BIS, the National Standard Body of India and a founding member of ISO issues the MS Certificate / Licence under BIS Act 2016. Accredited by NABCB (QCI) for QMS, EMS, FSMS, OHSMS and EnMS, BIS ensures the highest standards of quality and reliability. Moreover, all of BIS’s auditors have extensive experience in products and services conformity assessments, along with a profound knowledge of product standards.
